We are very pleased to announce that following an open call for submissions, we have appointed Not Tom to deliver their exciting proposal for a series of Parklets outside Peckhamplex Cinema in Moncrieff Place.
The competition was very strong with eight proposals submitted, all from designers based in and around Peckham. The panel, made up of local business owners Simone Brown, John Reiss, Marianne Gray, and Elaine Carrigan, Southwark Transport Planner Christian Loveday, Sustrans London Communities Manager and Project Coordinator Ben Addy and Hannah Padgett, were unanimous in their decision to appoint Not Tom. The design encompasses a hard wearing yet colourful, textural and attractive series of multi-layered seating with incorporated planting. Not Tom have designed the seating as an extension to the dramatic artwork of internationally renowned Peckham artist Remi which will make a huge impact in this space.
We are working closely with local businesses and Southwark Council to fine tune the designs which will be installed in summer 2015. There may well be chances to get involved with making the parklets and there will certainly be an opportunity to get involved at the launch event planned for early July. Watch this space.
