Pocket Places Peckham is a Sustrans initiative supported and match funded by The People’s Health Trust and The London Borough of Southwark.
This project was funded by People’s Health Trust via ‘Local People’ funding raised by Health Wisdom through The Health Lottery.
Local People is a programme which takes a neighbourhood approach. It is helping to release the capacity of local people to lead the design and delivery of home-grown ideas that aim to enhance social cohesion, provide new resources and services and improve the local environment. Local People listens to the practical wisdom of local people and supports a process for longer-term engagement across communities. People’s Health Trust is an independent charity addressing health inequalities by investing in local organisations with great ideas to create fairer places to grow, live, work and age. http://www.peopleshealthtrust.org.uk
It works closely with HealthWisdom, a Community Interest Company committed to raising money to address health inequalities in South London http://www.healthablecic.org.uk.
The Health Lottery is operated for and on behalf of 51 Community Interest Companies across England,
Scotland and Wales, all holding society lottery licenses issued by the Gambling Commission.
The London Borough of Southwark supported the project financially and in kind.
